I still can't believe it. Last night was the awarding night of Swatch for their "My rabbit story" contest, and my entry was chosen as one of the five grand winners. The contest has been around for six years already, following themes from characters of the chinese zodiac, ranging from different art forms (digital art, photography, etc), and this year's theme was to make fashion/wearable art with the rabbit theme.
When I saw the contest in the papers, I thought, why not? This was my first time to join a contest like this, and also my first time to design a shoe, so it really came as a surprise that the judges would actually choose my design, over some of the other interesting entries which were done by actual young designers. I feel so lucky to be given the idea of creating that carrot shoe.

It was funny yesterday when I went to the Swatch shop and the manager asked me if I had already seen the papers, and I said no, since I really had not seen the papers yet at the time. She said, "Gagita ka!" and started giving me a sermon about how I should keep the clipping, since this was good news and was believed to bring in good luck, prosperity, etc...So I told her I would frame it. Hope you'll all have a lucky year too!
